The
commission is dedicated to protecting the natural environment
of Plumsted and preserving the rural character of our community.
The
commission serves as the township’s environmental “watchdog”
and advises the township committee on environmental matters.
It also sponsors varied activities such as water quality testing
of local streams and environmental education programs. The commission
is charged with reviewing development applications to ensure
the protection of the local environment.
The
commission is comprised of seven local residents appointed by
the township committee and two alternate members. The seven
appointed members serve staggered three-year terms. The commission
meets the last Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the township
municipal building on Main Street.
The
commission encourages you to attend its meetings and learn more
about its work. If you are interested in serving on the commission
or have any questions or concerns, e-mail commission chairman
Ralph Bitter or call him at 758-9544.
Hope
to hear from you soon!
